On a sunny Saturday, we walked from our chalet to the lighthouse and back. En route we came across the following plaques. Not blue but very historic.
As an adoptive Canvey girl the similarities always strike me with this seaside town. Created as a holiday resort by a Victorian with imagination, the cliffs were opened up to the general public not through winter garden glass houses but by a series of shelters currently being renovated.
Both are home to an arcitectural wonder. In this case the world’s first parabolic reflector in a lighthouse.
Both fell victim to the ’53 Flood
And both have been visited by Royalty
