Sleepless

Head full of thoughts

Tumbling, jumbling
I stare as

Heavy dog, resting his head

On my foot, dreams.

Twitching happily,

Running free.
I envy him.

For me, sleep dances out of reach

So I scroll through Facebook, twitter; play pokemon and candy crush

In the witching hour

Hoping to feel my eyes become heavier than a dreaming dog
until closing  they take me the quickest route to Saturday.

I hope in vain.

As I bemoan my fate
Otters giggle, squeal and tag my boat
wooshing water while they play

And delighting in their joyousness
I calm.
Cease worrying about my need to sleep
And
Putting my phone down, I take my glasses off
